Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you are refreshing tile and grout in a Gainesville kitchen or keeping commercial floors looking sharp across North Florida, we know you want clear answers before you book. Prefer to talk it through? Message us or call (904) 437-3832.
What floor and fabric services does Duval Floor Care offer?
We focus on professional tile and grout cleaning, carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, VCT strip and wax, and water extraction. Every job is tailored to the surface and how you use the space—homes and businesses alike. Explore our full list on the Services page, or tell us what you need when you reach out.
Do you serve both residential and commercial clients?
Yes. We clean for homeowners and for businesses—offices, retail, churches, schools, and other commercial spaces that need floors and upholstery brought back to a polished, well-kept finish. Large carpeted workplaces: see our commercial carpet cleaning & VLM programs, plus dedicated office carpet cleaning and church carpet cleaning pages (city pages for Jacksonville and Gainesville). Residential and commercial work follow the same standard: careful assessment, the right method for the surface, and results that hold up to daily life.
Do you serve Gainesville? What areas do you cover?
We serve Gainesville, Newberry, and Jacksonville, FL (including communities such as Orange Park, Oakleaf, Jax Beach, Yulee, Ponte Vedra, and Middleburg). Every listed community is a priority; message us to confirm we cover your neighborhood.
How does booking work?
It is simple: contact us, we talk through your space and goals, then we schedule a visit once we understand the job. You can message us through the Contact form or call (904) 437-3832. We will assess what your floors need and outline a clear plan before we begin.
How long does a typical job take?
It depends on the size of the area, the condition of the floors or upholstery, and the service (for example, tile and grout versus a full VCT strip and wax). Some visits wrap up in a relatively short window; larger or more detailed jobs take longer. When we consult with you, we will give a realistic sense of timing for your space so you can plan around the day.
How should I prepare my home before you arrive?
A little prep helps us work efficiently and protect your belongings:
- Clear floors and furniture surfaces as much as practical so we can reach what needs cleaning
- Move small items, rugs, and clutter off the work areas when you can
- Note any stubborn stains, problem spots, or surfaces you want us to prioritize
- Keep pets secured in another room or away from the work area during the visit
If something cannot be moved easily, tell us when you book—we will plan around it.
Are your methods safe around pets and family?
We use eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaning approaches designed for homes and workplaces, with attention to a clean, welcoming finish. We ask that pets be kept clear of the work area while we clean, and we leave surfaces ready for normal use once the job is complete. If you have a specific concern about a room, fabric, or household routine, mention it when you message or call—we are happy to walk through what to expect.
Is professional carpet cleaning safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Our professional carpet cleaning uses eco-friendly chemicals suited to homes with kids and pets, and we offer allergy- or fragrance-free alternatives on request. For a restorative deep clean we use hot-water extraction with our Everest 870 HP truckmount so soil lifts out of the fibers rather than staying packed in. Please secure pets away from the work area during the visit, and keep kids and pets off the carpet until it is dry so the clean sets properly and lasts. Message us or call (904) 437-3832 for a free quote—we serve Gainesville, Newberry, Jacksonville, and surrounding North Florida communities with the same quality cleaning and lasting results. How soon can we walk on carpet after cleaning?
After professional hot-water extraction, carpet is usually damp for a few hours. In good conditions—AC running, decent airflow, and moderate humidity—many areas are careful-walkable the same day, often within a few hours. Fully dry can take longer depending on carpet pile, room conditions, and how much moisture a thorough clean needed. Keep kids, pets, and furniture off until the carpet is dry so the clean sets and lasts. Truckmount extraction (like our Everest 870 HP) removes a lot of water, but North Florida humidity still affects dry time—ask us about your space when you book. Message us or call (904) 437-3832 for a free quote. We serve Gainesville, Newberry, Jacksonville, and surrounding North Florida with the same quality cleaning and lasting results. When is a restorative carpet clean better than another maintenance clean?
Routine maintenance cleans, like low-moisture VLM or encapsulation on commercial carpet, are built to keep carpet looking sharp between deeper cleans. A restorative hot-water extraction is the better call when:
- Traffic lanes stay gray right after a maintenance pass
- Spots keep wicking back up a few days later
- Carpet feels sticky or stiff from old cleaning residue
- Odors come from soil packed deep in the pile
- It has simply been a long time since a true deep clean
Our Everest 870 HP truckmount flushes and pulls out that packed soil and residue so the next maintenance cleans actually hold. Cleaning cannot fix physical damage such as frayed seams, burns, bleach spots, or crushed, worn-out fibers, so if we see that we will tell you plainly instead of selling a clean that will not help. Many homes and facilities do best with a restorative clean first, then scheduled maintenance to keep it there (see VLM vs hot-water extraction and commercial carpet maintenance programs). Message us or call (904) 437-3832 for a free quote. We serve Gainesville, Newberry, Jacksonville, and surrounding North Florida communities with the same quality cleaning and lasting results. What makes your floor care approach different?
Results look better and hold up when we use the right process and equipment, and that is how we deliver lasting results. We invest in advanced equipment, careful technique, and punctual, detail-minded service so floors and fabrics receive the care they need.
What should I expect for tile and grout cleaning?
Tile and grout take on kitchen traffic, bathroom moisture, and everyday soil that surface mopping often cannot lift. Our tile and grout service is built to restore shine and clarity—including kitchens, bathrooms, and other tiled areas—using professional methods suited to porous grout and hard tile. We assess the floor first so the approach matches the material and condition. Learn more on our Tile & Grout page.
Do you seal grout after cleaning?
Yes—when the floor and grout condition call for it. After a thorough clean, professional grout sealing helps keep soil and stains from soaking back into porous lines so the clean lasts longer. Not every tile and grout job needs a reseal the same day; we assess porosity, how worn any prior seal is, and how the space is used (kitchen and bath traffic, commercial floors). Message us or call (904) 437-3832 for a free quote. Learn more on our Tile & Grout page, grout sealing guide, or tips on how often to reseal and the tile sealing cycle.
Do you clean carpets and upholstery as well as hard floors?
Yes. Alongside tile and VCT, we provide deep carpet cleaning and professional upholstery cleaning to refresh fabrics that hold everyday soil and spills. Homes: see our carpet cleaning page. Offices, churches, schools, and other large carpeted spaces: commercial carpet cleaning & VLM programs (Cimex VLM maintenance plus Everest 870 HP truckmount restorative). Whether it is living-room seating, office chairs, or wall-to-wall carpet, we treat the material with care so it looks fresher without a hard sell or cookie-cutter approach. Before we clean a sofa or chair, we check its fabric tag; our guide to upholstery cleaning codes explains what W, S, W/S, and X mean for your furniture.
What is VCT strip and wax, and who needs it?
VCT (vinyl composition tile) is common in commercial and some residential spaces. Over time, finish builds up dirt and dullness. Our strip and wax service carefully removes worn finish and applies a fresh protective coat so floors look uniform, durable, and easier to maintain. If you are unsure whether your floors are VCT, send a quick description or photo when you contact us—we will help you decide if strip and wax is the right fit.
Do you offer water extraction?
Yes. When unexpected water affects carpets or floors, prompt water extraction (with 24/7 response when you call) helps remove standing moisture and reduce the chance of lingering odor or damage. We assess the situation, extract water from affected areas, and discuss next steps for drying and floor care. For wet carpets, tiled areas, or recent water events in Gainesville, Newberry, or Jacksonville, FL, message us or call (904) 437-3832. See our Water Extraction page for more.
How do I get a quote or schedule service?
Message us through our Contact page or call (904) 437-3832. Share the service you need (tile, carpet, upholstery, VCT, or water extraction), roughly how much area is involved, and whether the job is residential or commercial. We will review the details with you and schedule from there. We do not publish one-size-fits-all pricing online—every space is different, and we prefer an honest conversation over guesswork.
What are your hours?
We are available Monday through Sunday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Eastern) for regular floor care. Water extraction emergencies are 24/7 — call (904) 437-3832. Reach out during regular hours by phone, or leave a message anytime through the contact form and we will follow up.
